Workplace safety remains a critical concern for governments, regulators, and insurers across the globe. Whilst acknowledging that a strictly like-for-like comparison is complex due to differing national reporting and recognition methodologies, this publication presents a comparative analysis of fatal workplace accident claims across the United Kingdom, France, Spain, the United States, Mexico and Australia.

Drawing on the most recent data available from each jurisdiction’s official reporting bodies, the publication examines the frequency and nature of workplace fatalities, highlighting common causes such as falls from height and vehicle incidents, as well as the sectors most affected - including construction, agriculture and transportation.

In addition to identifying these cross-jurisdictional trends, the report explores how national regulatory and compensation frameworks influence claims handling and insurance practice. Though not exhaustive, it provides a valuable overview of the similarities and distinctions in how these countries approach workplace safety, offering insight into the challenges and progress made in reducing fatal accidents worldwide.
